Brian Hugh Warner, known professionally as Marilyn Manson, is an American musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, painter, multimedia artist, and former music journalist. He is best known for his band's records released in the 1990s, most notably "Antichrist Superstar" and "Mechanical Animals". In the U.S. alone, three of the band's albums have been awarded platinum and three more went gold, and the band has had eight releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Manson has been ranked number 44 in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists by Hit Parade, and has been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
In January of 2015, Marilyn Manson released his ninth studio album, The Pale Emperor, via the shock rocker's own label — Hell, etc. — in a joint venture with Cooking Vinyl. The album was recorded at the Abattoir Studios and Igloo Studios in California. The record was produced by Marilyn Manson, himself, and Tyler Bates. This incarnation of Marilyn Manson is Marilyn Manson (vocals, keyboards), Tyler Bates (bass guitar, electric guitar), and Gil Sharone (drums). And in a bit of unexpected tenderness, the release is dedicated to his late mother who passed while the recording was for the LP was ongoing. Manson's previous full-length CD, "Born Villain", his eighth overall, debuted in the Top 10 on The Billboard 200 chart. The effort earned the singer his fourth Grammy nomination at the 2013 Grammys in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category for the album's lead single, "No Reflection".
During the past couple of years Manson has been cast in a recurring role in the hit FX series ’Sons Of Anarchy’ where he plays Ron Tully, a “white supremacist prison shot-caller”. He has also been working his way into television in the past couple of years, making appearances on ‘Californication’, ‘Wrong Cops’ and ‘Eastbound & Down’, along with voicing a demonic character on fairy tale series, ‘Once Upon A Time’. His most impressive contribution to TV has to be the use of his own ‘Cupid Carries A Gun’ to the intro credits of creepy series ‘Salem’. Manson told The Hollywood Reporter that the track “was the last track we just finished for my new album,” adding “I liked the themes of ‘Salem’. It looks at the witch trials without being cliche like most modern films.”
